SPC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Natural Resources Scientist to provide technical leadership and strategic guidance for natural resource investigations and environmental permitting. This role combines strong technical expertise, project leadership, and client coordination to support infrastructure and development projects.

The ideal candidate will work closely with leadership and senior technical staff to guide permitting strategies, oversee natural resource studies, and support successful project delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Lead natural resource investigations including wetland delineations, stream assessments, habitat surveys, and environmental field studies

· Provide technical leadership and oversight for environmental permitting efforts across multiple projects

· Develop permitting strategies and coordinate regulatory approvals for infrastructure and development projects

· Prepare and review technical documents including environmental reports, permit applications, and regulatory submittals

· Serve as a primary technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies

· Coordinate with regulatory agencies

· Guide project teams through environmental permitting processes and regulatory compliance requirements

· Lead project planning activities including scope development, scheduling, and task coordination

· Support proposal development, cost estimates, and technical approaches for new projects

· Provide quality review of field data, reports, and environmental documentation

· Mentor and provide guidance to junior scientists and field staff

· Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety programs, and quality standards

· Provide strategic input on natural resource management, environmental planning, and project delivery

· Perform additional leadership and technical responsibilities as needed to support business objectives

Requirements:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Ecology, or a related field

· Master’s degree preferred

· 12+ years of experience in environmental consulting, natural resources, or environmental permitting

· Demonstrated experience leading environmental permitting for infrastructure or development projects

· Strong knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks including Clean Water Act Sections 404/401, NEPA, and Endangered Species Act

· Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies including USACE, USFWS, and state environmental agencies

· Strong experience conducting and overseeing wetland delineations and natural resource surveys

· Proven ability to manage projects, regulatory coordination, and technical documentation

· Positive client relation skills

· Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)

· Excellent verbal & written communication skills

· Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
